GameStop Corp. announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Collectors to accept PSA card grading submissions at GameStop retail locations. As per the details of this collaboration, GameStop is now an authorized PSA dealer, and PSA will provide authentication and grading services for trading cards through select GameStop stores across the United States.

Of course, PSA has dozens of retailer agreements in place with card shops, but GameStop’s high profile and large footprint give this move more buzz.

This is the latest in a series of bold new moves for PSA since Collectors acquired SGC. In May, PSA upgraded to new, sturdier holders with enhanced UV protection. Then in June, they rolled out a new Grader’s Notes feature.

While some may have expected Collectors to foster more synergy between the two former rival brands, so far the innovations have been all PSA. We have heard very little from SGC since the acquisition, other than news of some grading specials. Will see see SGC innovating and advancing soon? Time will tell.
