This post is designed as a “pinned post” for the Vintage Baseball Cards Facebook group. VBC is one of the largest all-vintage groups anywhere, with over 54,000 members. It’s a great place to buy, sell, and trade vintage baseball cards, but there’s a lot to know to do so effectively and safely.

This post will keep you up to date on any active Alerts (scams, glitches, etc.), provide group Rules and link to relevant Cardhound resources. Happy collecting!

We will keep active alerts at the top of the post. Current known issues are as follows:

Vintage Baseball Cards: Rules

Cards with corner wear

All groups need rules to keep things running smoothly. Review them before making your first post. Within these rules I will drop links to Cardhound resources that might be helpful to you.

1. Only vintage baseball items are permitted (1985). Only baseball cards and memorabilia 1985 and earlier allowed. No links to sales or auctions outside the group. EXCEPTION: all sports and years allowed on Wacky Wednesday.
2. Must Accept Goods & Services and Coin $200+. Sellers must accept either PayPal Goods & Services or Venmo g&s. No net to me or mention of Friends & Family (FF). Cards $200+ must be coined—even in the comments. Cards in a recognized Vault (such as PWCC) can be coined via a screenshot showing the account and card. Group Experts are exempt from coin rules. If this jargon is unfamiliar to you, try this article.
3. All sale listings must be priced. No more than 2 per day. No Deal / No Deal (DOND), “PM with offers,” “Best offer” or razz listings. Minimum start for an auction is $5, single card post min. is $10. New members need vouches before posting items FS. 2 posts / day. If you have multiple less expensive cards, do a claim sale or single post with many cards listed/priced. Clearly state shipping fees, and whether you ship outside of U.S.
4. Clearly state your intentions in post. Clearly state FS (for sale), FT (for trade), NFS (if showing). List all terms of auctions. “Want to Buy” posts must be for specific cards. Any post deemed predatory in nature will be removed at admin discretion.
5. Listings must have accurate descriptions & pics. Listings should include accurate descriptions and clear, well-lit pictures of card fronts and backs, out of sleeves and holders. Disclose any defects not obvious in pictures (watermarks, pin holes, creases, trimming, stains, etc..). If you need help taking good pics, try this resource. If you need a refresher on accurately describing card condition, try this one.
6. No deleting Sales, Auctions, or Bids. Do not delete posts, bids, or claims on an active sale. Do not delete any closed auction or sale. Contact other party immediately after a deal has been reached, and pay / ship within 2 days unless otherwise arranged.
7. No Drama / Spam / Post hijacking / Politics. Be respectful. No trolling or harmful banter allowed. Don’t share links to other facebook groups, store/shop or any other type of marketing. No hijacking of another member’s post, political, or seeking consignments posts. Card show posts are permitted.

8. Prohibited Posts. Absolutely no phishing posts. No links to outside auctions. We delete the following at our discretion (but the links will help you answer these common questions): Is this real? Should I grade this card? PSA or SGC? What’s this worth? What would this grade as? Just inherited… Found in my attic… etc.
