Statement from Paul:
“Well you never think it’s going to happen to you until it does. I was out this past weekend at The Philly Card Show when I had a 1933 Goudey Red Ruth stolen from me (one of the most expensive cards in my cases).
I feel as though I was set up and distracted by a customer while his friend went in and scooped the card from one of my cases.”
Paul continues, “I let my guard down and will certainly have to make lots of changes to avoid anything like this from happening ever again.
This certainly hurts a small business like mine. No question about it. I am sick to my stomach. But I will tell you the value of the card pales in comparison to the amazing people I have met through the years in this business. Many of you have become my very good friends and are more valuable than any card I could possibly have. I am very grateful to all of you.
I am hopeful that as the investigation continues they will catch this thief. There is no place in this hobby for people like that.”
Photos:
Here are 2 photos of the actual card. Keep in mind that a stolen card is likely to be cracked out of its case, so also be on the lookout for a raw card or even a brand new grade SGC or off-brand grader:
