I have many questions I would love to ask because I am interested in every aspect of the grading process, but I will start with the most important question: What do YOU collect? Let's see some eye candy or hear a story about a favorite card, find, or set? Pics encouraged : )
I always love when people ask what I collect. I'm actually shocked when people ask "Do you collect?" I respond with, "How can you do this job and NOT collect?"
I have really focused my card collecting. For many years I collected without structure. I would collect what caught my eye. But when I focused my collecting, collecting became more fun.
My PC is Victor Starffin. While I am not sure if I am the biggest Starffin collector out there, I have to be one of the top. Collecting his Japanese cards for over 25 years now has been a rewarding chase. There have been years go by that I might only add one or two cards to the collection.
I have a few pre-war sets I am always working on. I really love 19th century baseball. So fun to collect but has gotten expensive in recent years.
I also collect non-sports.
Outside of cards, it is comic art for me. I collect the history of comic and cartoon art. I think my favorite comic-related piece is a signed letter from Rudolphe Topffer, the father of comics. I am also working on a collection of comic art from every cartoonist to have appeared in the New Yorker magazine since 1925.
I have been asked to collect some Intel and report back to my friend who is also a Starffin collector: about how many items do you have in your collection and about how many of them are cards? He will have to provide the same Intel to get this info. 😊 You'll have to compare notes sometime.
I'm also glad to purchase some doubles if you have any so I can start a much more modest collection of my own! Just a really incredible story in both baseball and human terms.

I do not know total items. Cards at last count was just north of 200 different cards. I think there are 5 or 6 autos now.
I actually do not think I have a ton of dupes. I'm usually pretty good about knowing what I need, but I definitely have bought some dupes. I'll have to pull them next time I'm in the collection.
@cardgrader amazing. It sounds like you and my pal Ryan probably have very similar collections. I'll connect you. 😊
