I thought I would write a catch-all post to cover some recent Cardhound and vintage news. Let’s call it a winter 2026 Cardhound Vintage update. Read on for news related to both Cardhound and vintage, as we approach our 2-year site anniversary! Thanks for all of your support over the past 2 years.
New Slogan, New Mission
Cardhound has a new slogan to match its revised mission. The original “Collect. Connect.” slogan has been replaced with “Old Cardboard. Fresh Perspective.”
When I launched Cardhound I had high hopes for the forum. In fact, I thought it would be the main feature and draw to the site. I still love the idea of a hobby-specific forum where a small group of diehard collectors could connect with each other and sustain conversation in ways that are not easy to do on social media.
And personally, I’m just over Facebook and toxic media in general. Net54 is just too “old” and I thought there was room for an alternative.
Maybe I was being naive but after nearly two years of plugging away at building the forum, I have taken it offline, at least for now. Apparently it’s just too big of a hill to climb when competing with Facebook and other social media platforms.
We hosted some amazing guests including world-class baseball painter Graig Kreindler, card grading icon Andy Broome, and Love of the Game auction house owner Al Crisafulli to name a few.
I loved these sessions–but participation was just too low to justify continued efforts. I watch well-funded hobby-specific apps like Mantel really struggle to catch on, and I’m left with the feeling that if a company can’t pull it off, I as an individual probably can’t, either.
If you miss the Forum and have ideas for reinventing it with me, I’m all ears. Comment below. But in the meantime, I have dropped the “membership” aspect and the forum to go all-in on the blog and news content.
Cardhound Articles Perform Well

Cool Davey Concepcion cards in PSA and SGC slabs.
In my mind, the blog was a secondary feature. Almost immediately, it became the main attraction. How-to’s, the counterfeit guide, and grading info are all popular topics on the Vintage 101 page.
I guess I shouldn’t be totally surprised by the success of the articles. After all, I have a PhD in English and teach writing for a living, know a pretty good bit about this wonderful hobby of ours, and I do enjoy writing. Whether helping keep readers up to date on the latest grading trends and news, or sharing feature stories on vintage-related topics, I try to keep the content fresh.
And the site is also loaded with high-performing pages of go-to vintage questions like “Should I grade my vintage sports cards?”
These articles are reaching thousands of unique viewers / readers each month, which helps sustain a little advertising so I can keep writing!
If you Google search for a vintage-related topic, there’s a good chance that a Cardhound article will be in the AI summary or among the first results. I work hard on SEO to keep growing the audience.
I challenge you to use the search bar on our home page and find a topic not addressed on the site. If so drop it below and I’ll get to work!
Always Seeking Collaborators
I’m always on the hunt for the next fun partnership or collaboration. Sponsorship opportunities large and small are available for as little as $50 / month!
But I’m even more interested in finding some synergy where both parties can benefit. For example, Market Movers and Cardhound collaborated on a market “index” of vintage icons. Check out the Cardhound 100! (Vintage is UP!).
I started a new vintage group to help promote the Mantel app. I have been helping out as a consultant of sorts for upstart Rabbit Hole Auctions. I do some cross-promotion with page sponsor Burl’s Sports (vintage breaks).
Boca Card Subs occasionally offers up some free grading to give away to site members. Pro-Mold sends promos that I send to readers in various giveaways. And on and on. I love win-win-win deals where Cardhound, the partner org, and readers all benefit.
If you want to be in on the promos, giveaways, and inside scoops, scroll to the bottom of the home page and join the mailing list!

In the meantime . . .

On a personal note, I’m always chasing cool Cuban and South American cards of Negro League players. Big business announcement on this front coming soon!
